#50,188 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store)

I've purchased all volumes up to 22 and the TV show has just about caught up to wear I am in the novels. These books are friggen awesome. I don't read much and my buddy lent me VOL 1 after he knew I liked the show. Well, I burned through the first one and then just went on a tear buying 4 volumes at a time...the price is pretty good for what you get out of these. $9-$15 is the range I've paid per novel, I'm not sure why they aren't the same but anyways, I keep buying them none the less. The story was written before the TV Show and the show follows the story but there is some differences. The written story is more violent and graphic then the tv show but the tv show does a decent job of sticking with main ideas. I've noticed that certain plot things that happen in the book also happen in the show but there is a unique twist like a different character it happens to or something like that. Which makes reading these volumes great cuz I have some idea of where the story is going (after having watched all tv episodes) but there are still surprises. If you like the TV show and haven't read these, give it a try and you will get a whole new experience of the Walking Dead story. I'm putting this same review under every volume I've purchased (1-22) so people can see it. go buy these!

For those who may be new to the Walking Dead universe, it's the story of Rick, a wounded policeman who awakens one day in the hospital to find the world overrun by zombies. The series follows Rick as he struggles to lead a group of survivors to some semblance of safety in post-apocalyptic America, and it's a must-read for comic book horror aficionados. In "Here We Remain," Rick and his son Carl have fled their devastated penitentiary-turned-sanctuary after an assault by a rival faction led by the malevolent Governor. Both sides were decimated in the conflict, with Rick's group losing longtime members to death or retreat. We follow Rick and Carl as they hide out and heal up until finally reuniting with the survivors of their clan.At first the company feels safe at a familiar farm, but then a new batch of survivors arrives to reveal a collective zombie behavior pattern that negates their plan to make a stand. In addition, a mysterious member of the band claims to know how the zombie plague began. His inside knowledge sparks another journey for our heroes, this time to the place where answers might finally be found: Washington DC.I've been a big fan of this hard-hitting series from the start, and "Here We Remain" continues a great run by writer Robert Kirkman. An interesting facet of this arc is the coping mechanism each character demonstrates in response to their terrible new existence. Actions that would've led to a stay at a mental asylum are now the norm. Rick and Michonne find they share a commonality in this area, Carl wrestles with being forced to grow up too fast, and others live in a state of extreme cognitive denial or strict emotional lockdown."Here We Remain" is another outstanding addition to the Walking Dead series. At this point I'm tempted to purchase the hardcover volumes, because "The Walking Dead" has become an epic that I want in my permanent library.

After the prison is destroyed and the group is scattered, Rick and Carl attempt to find shelter in a nearby town and reunite with surviving members of the group. Rick's physical and mental state begin to unravel, while Carl starts to grow more independent and apathetic. They eventually manage to reunite with the other survivors, however, before they can recover fully, three new survivors arrive and present an unbelievable opportunity for the group if they join them.

The Walking Dead is Robert Kirkman's ongoing series that attempts to make the ultimate zombie movie in comic book form. In the process, he shows the effect that living in post-zombie-apocalypse world has on people. This volume reprints issues 49-54 of the ongoing series. Following the devastating events of The Walking Dead, Vol. 8: Made to Suffer (v. 8), the story starts off with Rick and his son Carl trying to find a place of relative safety as well as make their peace with what has happened to them. Most volumes of Walking Dead have a fair amount of action, and this one is no exception. But in terms of story, this is definitely a pause of sorts. It serves partly as an epilog to what has come before, and equally as a prolog to a major new direction in the series as it moves forward. After the nonstop tension of the past few volumes, this is a welcome break that serves the reader well. We meet some interesting new characters and the survivors undertake a major new mission that will open the book up to a number of new possibilities in future volumes.Overall, this is an easy book to recommend to readers who have followed the series up to this point. The story moves along at a good pace and there are some great moments featuring Carl and Rick. As much as I've enjoyed where Walking Dead has gone in past chapters, I'm equally curious to read more about what's still to come.

I have really enjoyed Kirkman's work on "The Walking Dead". He has great characters and is able to add depth to a genre that is easily played out by lesser minds. I was eagerly awaiting this book, as the last one ended in a way that was unexpected from a pop/Hollywood culture point of view. Here again he doesn't disappoint as Carl tries to accept his place a boy growing into a man and Rick works to find his way to regain any self-confidence he once had. Old friends return and some new ones are found...or are they? My only problem with Kirkman is keeping track of his characters. It is easy sometimes to forget who is who and I find that I often have to re-read portions of the last book to refresh my memory.

Carl learns the value of all of his father's advice in this volume.
