Very disappointed - no where in the description did it say all pictures were in black and white. It's an interior design book. With black and white pictures. Completely useless. My bad for not reading all the reviews, never imagined that an interior design book wouldn't have color pictures.
Contents are good, but black and white illustrations (which are referred to as in color) and fonts are very hard to understand. Seemed more like a print of a PDF than a real book, and that was not clear from the description.
I don't know what the other negative reviews are talking about but this book is full of colorful beautiful interior decor photographs and I love it. There must be another edition with a similar name that people are writing about, this one is highly recommended and have lent my copy as well to my friends who also enjoyed it. Check out the "look inside" option at the top the page and see only color photos.
Ugly facsimile of the original with only black and white photo's. If I had seen in person would not have purchased. It is easy to read with nice bold print, but a book on interior design should have color photo's as the authors included in the original publication.
A great book. We own a 1960s prairie-style house and looking through this book provided many different visions that, with minor changes, might be our house. Gave us some great ideas for decorating and furnishing. And my spouse picked a new exterior paint color (ash grey) to go with the red brick (trim is now sort of barn red). It is a fascinating cultural piece, looking at mostly elegant ranch-style homes of the 1950s and 1960s -- but for us it is also a very useful tool.
For a book of interiors color pictures is kinda important, unfortunately this book was strictly black and white.
An eye-opening look on this niche of interior design and architecture, this book was a delightful surprise and a fun read. My only criticism is that many of the homes seem to run together; there is not quite as much diversity as I would have enjoyed seeing. However, if you have an interest in mid-century ranch homes, this is a good jumping off point and money well spent.
Lots of fragmented pictures of kitchens and small shots of living areas. Not able to get overall floor plan ideas fromthis book. Overall more shots of interior decorating than totality of most of the properties.
